Course Description

This course examines how banks and other financial institutions operate in a globalized world. Instruction includes an overview of monetary policy and how the central bank regulates and supervises the banking system, as well as the tools employed for managing the costs and availability of money in the economy. With commercial banks and investment banks now virtually the same, the course covers other important facets of banking: corporate finance, underwriting, lending, foreign exchange, asset management, trust services, credit cards, cash management, trading of bonds and foreign exchange, and various services and products. The curriculum also includes the review and discussion of recent financial legislation.
