2 Courses Required

The Event Management Specialization is designed for working professionals who consider entering the industry or consider a career transition into event management. This program will also help working professionals with previous knowledge in event management by developing their skills further.
An event requires an extensive amount of planning big and small from choosing a venue and reviewing contracts to juggling guest lists and issuing name badges. The event management specialization curriculum covers topics such as industry principles, event coordination and production, event risk management, budgeting basics, site and venue selection, marketing, contracts and negotiation, registration and housing, event technology, food and beverage fundamentals, onsite management, and post-meeting follow up.

Students will importantly complete a capstone project which will give them a chance to put into practice all that was learned throughout this specialization.
The 2-course Event Management Specialization can be completed within 2 quarters. The program will prepare students to gain the knowledge necessary in order to plan an event from idea generation to successful completion, and will help students get ready to prepare  for industry certification examinations such as Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) and Certified Special Events Professional (CSEP).
