6 Courses Required

This 22-unit program prepares teachers to teach English as a Second, or Foreign, language to diverse populations of English Learners. The program covers applicable theory in linguistics and in second language development, methods in teaching listening, speaking, reading and writing, current technologies for teaching English, and cultural competency and cultural diversity understanding. Students who take this certificate program are individuals who wish to teach English abroad and non-native English speakers and foreign teachers who wish to teach English in their native countries.

Students must earn a letter grade in a course in order for it to be applied toward the certificate of completion.
