The Acting Certificate is designed for those who want to pursue an acting career in film, television, commercials and digital media. After taking a series of foundation courses, students hone their performance, auditioning, and improvisation skills under the guidance of acting professionals. Students have ample opportunity to perform in front of the camera and learn the practical business skills needed to succeed in the industry.
Requirements
Students must complete a total of 12 courses (48 units) for the award. 10 courses (40 units) are required and the remaining 2 electives (8 units) are comprised of other courses numbered X 400-499 in Acting, Directing, Producing, Entertainment Development, Business and Management of Entertainment, Cinematography, Post-Production, or Music. New electives are added regularly.
A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 must be achieved for successful completion of the certificate program.
The following course should be completed within the first 2 quarters of study:
- FILM TV X 404 Pre-Production and Production for Film and Television
The following courses should be taken sequentially:
- THEATER X 410.3 Acting for the Camera I
- THEATER X 410.5 Acting for the Camera II
