The Film and TV Development Certificate is ideal for those interested in becoming development or acquisitions executives and creative producers in the Film and TV industry. After taking a series of four foundation courses students learn specific skills that can prepare them for entry-level positions in the industry. They gain an understanding of how to write coverage, develop compelling stories, and make a project attractive to potential buyers.
Requirements
Students must complete a total of 12 courses (48 units) for the award. 9 courses (36 units) are required and the remaining 3 electives (12 units) are comprised of other courses numbered X 400-499 in Entertainment Development, Producing, Business and Management of Entertainment, Post-Production, Acting, Cinematography, Directing, Writers' Program/Feature Film, Writers' Program/Television, Writers' Program/Special Topics in Film & TV, or Music. New electives are added regularly.
A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 must be achieved for successful completion of the certificate program.

- FILM TV X 404 Pre-Production and Production for Film and Television
The following courses should be taken prior to X 476.244 Story Development Workshop: Crafting Your Original Story.
- FILM TV X 476.22 Story Analysis for Film and Television
- FILM TV X 476.894 Introduction to Feature Film Development
