Course Description
This course will focus on administrative functions in the role of a Medical Assistant including appointment and scheduling methods, introduction to the electronic medical record and practice management system, third party reimbursement and basic finance practices. Student will practice various administrative functions including managing appointments, utilizing an EMR, and creating, organizing, and maintaining a medical record, interpreting insurance information and verifying insurance eligibility and pre-authorization. Students will also receive an introduction to procedural and diagnostic coding. Students will have an introduction to administrative work in the ambulatory care setting.Course Outline
