Course Description
This course presents the characteristics of up to 150 plants selected for their garden use and seasonal interest in the Southern California area. Topics include trees; shrubs, ground covers; vines; and herbaceous plants, emphasizing their landscape use, appropriate placement, horticultural care and ornamental features. A course project is required for all credit students.Course Outline
This course focuses on plants appropriate for use in Southern California. Students learn plant names, both common and scientific, cultural requirements and proper placement within the landscape. The class uses local botanical gardens and nurseries to introduce students to over 150 plants.Notes
