Course Description
From floor plans to elevations, sections, and details, this comprehensive course provides a solid foundation for professionals seeking to enhance their expertise in blueprint reading. This introductory course in reading and analyzing architecture and construction documents provides the theory and practice to read complete sets of drawings used in building design and building construction. Students explore elements of architecture and construction document reading, from sheet characteristics and drawing symbols to reading specialty prints and construction specifications. Students will also develop skills in reading, visual perception, technical communication, and problem solving, and are given a full set of construction project documents to work through typical problems commonly encountered by industry professionals. This course utilizes the PDF viewing and editing software Bluebeam® to navigate construction documents.
