Course Description
The course provides fundamental knowledge required to support an Infection Prevention program in the healthcare setting along with an introduction to key concepts in hospital epidemiology. The course will outline the role of infection prevention professionals in improving patient safety outcomes. The topics covered in this course include: hand hygiene, standard and transmission-based precautions, environmental services, construction projects, device associated infections, multidrug resistant organisms, introduction to clinical microbiology, occupational health and minimizing risk to healthcare workers, sterilization and disinfection, and ambulatory services.Course Outline
