The focus of the course is to provide practitioners – care providers and administrators – with an understanding of their own, legal responsibilities around child safety; ways to reduce risk in the ECE setting; and what to do when a child is injured, abused or neglected. The course introduces early childhood program providers and administrators to legal terminology, issues, conflict resolution and NAEYC best practices, with an emphasis on compliance with state and federal regulations. Topics include negligent supervision lawsuits, reporting and report writing, liability for intentional conduct, school safety best practices, team collaboration techniques to protect children and staff, deposition preparation fundamentals and computer applications for administration.Course Outline
